God HATES lies!
Most times persons lie with the belief that they are doing more good than bad and some even believe that it is best to cover the truth because if their partners or friends or family finds out, they will lose everything. But lies actually kill relationships. It is best to tell the truth, deal with the consequences than to upset God.
Here are 5 Reasons you should STOP LYING:
#1: Lies Kill Trust.
Once the person finds out you have been lying to them, they might forgive you but they won't forget and that can foster mistrust. They will doubt or challenge everything you say after that.
#2: You become a habitual liar!
Telling lies is an easy habit to attain and a hard one to drain! Once you have told a lie, it can become a cycle as you have to tell a million more to cover the one and sometimes, if the persons is a great lie-detector, they will ask you the same question months down the line with something added and you get caught up in that web trying to remember lie #53. Now, this is just too much work!
#3: Lies Hurt!
It is totally unfair to anyone to believe that you are something when you are not! It is best to allow the truth to shine. Lies hurt, it doesn't protect and it surely doesn't heal wounds.
#4: It erases the meaning of love.
God is love and within Him, there are no lies but only truth. He is the light! He therefore urges us to be honest and true in all we do. When you lie, the individual will NEVER look on you the same ever again and that changes how they relate to you and how they view you.
#5: God hates lies!
Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
Here are ways to keep yourself away from becoming a liar:
No matter what, once someone ask you something, be honest and true.
Do not do something if you know you have to lie about it later.
Do not do something if you know you have to lie about it later.
Avoid holding secrets.
Avoid situations that promotes gossiping.
Avoid persons who are habitual liars.
